Classic Cars at JayLenosGarage.com
Being from Detroit, cars are indelibly embedded in my brain. I knew at an early age, that the car you drove spoke volumes about your personality and socio-economic status. My Dad drove an Olds and aspired to own a Cadillac. My professional start was in the automotive industry, but I "retired" from the ad biz because I tired of the every-3-years, cyclical automotive recession.
Having said that, I came across a great Classic Car site hosted by Jay Leno and sponsored, in part, by General Motors and NBC. (Full disclosure.)
Jay Leno, as many of you may know, is a serious car enthusiast, having devoted millions of dollars to restoring classic cars. I also had the opportunity when I was a Detroit ad rep to see him in concert in Boston for the 100th Anniversary (or maybe the 125th) of The Atlantic Monthly. I laughed so hard sound stopped coming from my mouth and the muscle cords in my neck seized up.
I figure one good time deserves another. For car fans everywhere, here's a look at the iconic 1966 Olds Toronado with Jay talking to the original design engineer.
And in memory of my Dad. He finally did get his Cadillac.
