When of the great things about social media is that I discover new people and ideas every day. The downside of all this is that I'm still in my pajamas at 10:40 a.m. Nevertheless, here's a piece of writing from musician, Philip Stephen Allen, on his blog, The Compass of Memories, that I think you'll appreciate.
"More and more I find myself called upon to be my highest and best. To bend, and not to break. To shed the parts of myself that no longer serve the reality of my life. I am pulling up the stakes demarcating what I thought I could not do for myself, for the ones I love, and for the values and objectives that are important to me. The rewards are greater than they’ve ever been. The consequences of not doing so, the shadows of a life half lived, are ever more distasteful to me."
And check out this midlife love song he wrote for the new woman in his life after reconnecting some 20 years later.
